Upcoming Short Story Collection

Hello, readers and writers! Long time, no see, huh? I’ve been awfully busy with my day job (no more freelancing, just a contract job editing audits for a medlegal company, but I’m working on finding a job more suited to skills and interests). That’s not to mention all of my writing on Vocal (click the link and check it out). However, I plan to be spending more time on here because I have some exciting news: I am writing and self-publishing a collection of short stories!

What is this short story collection going to be about, you might ask? Well, I’m going back to the core of my love of writing and twisting some fairy tales into new stories for this collection. This collection will include some stories that you can already find on Vocal, such as “Lips as Red as Blood”–a “Snow White” retelling–and “Neverland Lost”–a retelling of Peter Pan. However, there will also be new stories that I am working on now and that will not be available anywhere else, such as stories based on “Rapunzel” and “Little Red Riding Hood”. There will even be stories based on lesser-known tales such as “Faithful Johannes” and “The Robber Bridesgroom”.

While I will be busy with writing and editing these stories, as well as finding the finances for a cover artist and someone to help with the internal layout, I will be doing my best to keep you updated on the status of the collection. These updates will be here on the blog, on Vocal, on my social media pages (except for Facebook, which, due to extenuating circumstances, I am unable to access), and on my Patreon page. I do not anticipate the collection being ready until close to Christmas 2027. In the meantime, though, you can enjoy rough versions of some of the stories on Vocal:

Lips as Red as Blood

Neverland Lost

Heinrich

La Belle Fatale

Red Shift

The Shoemaker’s Elves

Most of these stories will be staying mostly the same for the collection, but one or two will be receiving heavy edits–perhaps even complete transformations–before publication, so don’t assume that reading them all on Vocal means that you can skip out on the upcoming short story collection!

If you wish to support this project or just want to follow my journey as I try to complete it, remember to follow me on here as well as on Vocal and Patreon. All have free options, but Vocal allows you to tip me for stories that you like, and Patreon has a paid membership option if you want to financially support this project.
